Police bust organised crime operation

Police

Members of the Special Operations Section, Drug Dog Operations Unit, Asset Forfeiture Unit and Territory Response Section executed a search warrant yesterday at a residence in Moil.

As a result of the search the following drugs were located in an internal wall cavity:

318 grams of Methamphetamine
32 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy)
55 grams of Cannabis
0.01 grams of LSD

A container load of property was also seized including four new motorcycles, six generators, power tools, fencing and building equipment and $5 000 in cash.

The 50-year-old male occupant was arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House and later charged with:

Supply Methamphetamine (commercial quantity)
Possess Methamphetamine (commercial quantity)
Possess MDMA (commercial quantity)
Possess Cannabis (trafficable quantity)
Possess LSD
Possess Tainted Property
Possess Implement to Administer Drug

Commander Colleen Gwynne of the Crime and Specialist Support Command said, "This is an excellent result that has caused major disruption to an organised crime syndicate.

"Police will allege that this operation was part of a national drugs and money laundering operation with strong links to interstate outlaw motorcycle gangs.

"Northern Territory Police will continue to target, apprehend and seize the assets of those involved in organised crime."

The 50-year-old man was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 18 November.

The drugs have a street value of approximately $325 000 and the property approximately $300 000.
