Police have arrested a 28-year-old male in relation to a crash that occurred early this morning.

It is alleged that at approximately 5:00 am a 25-year-old male was walking across the outbound lanes of the Stuart Highway, near the Bagot Road overpass, when he was struck by a Honda Accord, driven by the 28-year-old.

The driver then fled the area and was located in Nightcliff a short time later. He was initially arrested however released, pending further investigations.

The 25-year-old was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital, believed to be suffering non life threatening injuries.

It is believed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
