Pedestrian struck – Berrimah - 4363165

Police

Police are investigating a crash that occurred in Berrimah last night.

It is alleged that at about 8:15 pm a 47-year-old male pedestrian walked out onto the Stuart Highway and into the path of traffic.

One vehicle swerved to miss the man; however a Nissan Pulsar travelling behind the first vehicle tried to take evasive action but ended up colliding with the male.

Police and St John members attended the scene, conveying the victim to Royal Darwin Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Territory Duty Superintendent Rob Farmer said that people need to be vigilant at all times when using our roads.

"This is the second pedestrian struck this week and although the surrounding circumstances are different, the common thread between them seems to be inattention, whether it is from drivers or pedestrians.

"I particularly urge all pedestrians to exercise caution when crossing our roads" he said.

Anyone with information into the incident are urged to contact police on 131 444.
