Police are investigating an incident at Howard Springs last night in which a 27-year-old man was seriously injured.

Police received a report just after 2am that an injured man had been found lying on Inman Road, Howard Springs. St John Ambulance members attended and the man was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery this morning. He remains in a critical condition.

Superintended Bruce Porter said it was unclear what had taken place to cause the man's injuries, and investigations were continuing.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward. Anyone with information should phone police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
