Police were called after a 16th birthday party in Alice Springs was gate-crashed by large number of juveniles on Saturday.

Police received numerous calls to Erumba Street after the party spilled out into the street with reports of up to 100 juveniles fighting.

Police received several reports from neighbours that the youths were throwing bottles and rocks at each other. Five police units attended shortly after 12.30am on Saturday morning and police moved several people on who were believed to have been involved in the disturbance.

Police were forced to return to the area several times throughout the night and a number of people were taken into protective custody. It is believed some juveniles received minor injuries in the disturbances and there was damage to a number of vehicles and one house window.
