Operation RADO – arrests

Police

Members of the Commander's Tactical Team arrested two men both aged 22 in relation to a number of offences that occurred on 22 January this year.

At about 11.00 pm it is alleged the pair were observed by a neighbour in Cullen Bay Crescent, Larrakeyah climbing onto the roof of a house where they allegedly attempted to gain entry to an upper level window but were unsuccessful and left the area.

The pair then returned to the area around 11.20 pm and entered a different house via an open rear door. They allegedly stole a number of items including car keys, a Blackberry mobile phone, a quantity of foreign currency and two bottles of alcohol.

This suspect behaviour was reported to police and a Dog Operations Unit member and General Purpose Dog Xanto attended the scene. The dog tracked along the fence line of the premises and located a scent which established the offenders had left the area.

Operation RADO members were patrolling the Bayview area and located the two males sitting in their vehicle outside a vacant block of land in Bayview Boulevard. The two were arrested and police located a number of suspicious items in the vehicle.

The two men have been charged with:

Attempt unlawful entry dwelling at night
Unlawful entry dwelling at night

They were remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.
