Operation Calliope commenced on Friday at 5.00pm and ceased yesterday afternoon.

As a result of the operation a total of 692 drivers were breath tested with 13 DUI offences detected, 32 traffic infringement and four defect notices issued.

Superintendent Bob Rennie says "Although these figures are satisfying it is still disappointing that a minority of drivers put their lives and others at risk, by continuing to drink and drive".

"When planning to go out and have a good time plan a safe way home. The risk is simply not worth it".
