Nightcliff Police Beat a success already

Police

Only three hours after the official opening of the Nightcliff Police Beat, two officers from the station have arrested and charged two men for stealing from a local retailer.

Acting Senior Sergeant Sandi-Lee Bradley said that the officers followed and caught red handed two shop lifters stealing alcohol.

"It's great to see that just a short time after being officially opened, it's already working," she said.

The Nightcliff police beat was officially opened on 11 December 2009 and follows the opening of Police Beats at Casuarina and in Alice Springs.

Police Beats increase police presence in particular areas and provide local residents with a sense of confidence and safety.

Work to establish Police Beats at Palmerston, Karama, Parap and Katherine continues.
