Jabiru Police advise motorists using the Arnhem and Kakadu highways over the next week to take into consideration the abnormal spring tides (over seven metres).

These tides, combined with rain in the joint catchment, may cause water to cover the highways and they may become impassable.

Motorists intending to use these highways are advised to check road conditions before travelling. For further information visit www.roadreport.nt.gov.au, or telephone 1800 246 199.

"We advise motorists intending to travel on these highways to exercise extreme caution as road conditions can change quickly, "said Sergeant Roger Ilett, Officer in Charge of Jabiru Police Station.
