It is alleged that a Ford Falcon station wagon was travelling toward the intersection when the driver crossed on to the wrong side of the road whilst traversing a bend in the road.
The station wagon collided with a Mitsubishi Magna sedan that was travelling in the other direction on the correct side of the road.
As a result of the crash, an adult female travelling in the Ford Falcon received a laceration to her face that required medical attention and she has been conveyed to the Royal Darwin Hospital.
Both vehicles were moderately damaged but fortunately, no other persons were injured.
Darwin Watch Commander Daniel Shean said that whilst alcohol and speed were not contributing factors to this crash, negligence and due care were.
"Police would like to remind drivers to drive within marked lanes and with due care and attention at all times - had speed been a contributing factor in this crash the consequences could have been significantly worse" he said.
The matter is still under investigation and police expect to interview the driver of the Ford Falcon on Monday.
