Motor Vehicle Crash - Ludmilla - 4316661

Police

At about 5:00 am this morning NT Police members observed a car crash on Bagot Road.

It is alleged the 24-year-old male driver lost control of the vehicle after turning on to Bagot Road from Fitzer Drive. The vehicle subsequently collided with a pole situated out the front of a near by service station.

As a result of the collision the 21-year-old female passenger sustained head injuries and was required to be cut out of the vehicle by NT Fire and Rescue Service.

The woman was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital where she remains in the emergency department in a stable condition.

Initial investigations indicate the woman may not have been wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the vehicle was subjected to a road side breath test and returned a positive sample. He was then taken to RDH for medical assessment and released from police custody this morning.

Police are conducting further investigation into the crash.
