It is believed the driver of the 22 tonne heavy rigid freight truck carrying cucumbers struck a buffalo before rolling the vehicle.

The truck came to rest on its side against a power pole after spilling its load across the highway.

The driver was conveyed to Palmerston Clinic then Royal Darwin Hospital by Saint John Ambulance and was released this morning.

Department of Planning and Infrastructure and Power and Water personnel attended the scene and the highway was cleared of all debris at about 6:00 am this morning.
