Katherine Police and Fire Service were called to a minor crash involving an oversized road train carrying three trailers on the Victoria Highway in Katherine at about 8:30 am yesterday.

It appears the driver of a road train attempted to turn left from the Victoria Highway onto the Stuart Highway. In the process of the turn, the first trailer struck a power pole causing it to fall over, on the corner of intersection.

Police conducted traffic control at the scene and the intersection remained closed for approximately an hour until Power and Water personnel attended the scene and removed the power pole.

The 53-year-old male driver was issued with an infringement notice for driving without due care and the vehicle was taken to Katherine Heavy Vehicle Weighbridge for assessment.
