A 32-year-old Coconut Grove man has been charged in relation to an incident that occurred on Tuesday 22 September.

At about 11.00 am a male entered a supermarket and allegedly removed meat trays and concealed them on himself. After paying for other items, but not the meat, he was confronted by staff and the meat was recovered.

During this incident the male was also observed to be in possession of a knife but did not threaten anyone with it and he then left the store.

On Friday 25 September the man was arrested by members of the Commander's Tactical team and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House where he was later charged with:

Steal property from a shop
Possess/use/carry a controlled weapon
Go armed in public
Possess a dangerous drug

He was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court on 16 October.
