Man to be extradited – Darwin

Police

Detectives from Casuarina flew to Melbourne this week to arrest a man wanted in connection to an armed robbery in Ludmilla in 2006.

Detectives will extradite the 33-year-old Ludmilla man back to Darwin to face court over an armed robbery at a McDonalds restaurant on September 22, 2006. Detectives at the time released CCTV footage of the incident to the media, resulting in information leading to this week's arrest.

Police said the man fled Darwin after he allegedly committed the armed robbery and was arrested in Hobart a few weeks later when he surrendered to Tasmanian police. He was then extradited to Victoria where he faced court on an unrelated matter and has been in detention for the past three years.

Northern Territory Detectives arrested the man upon his release yesterday and he was taken to the Melbourne Magistrates Court for an extradition application, which was successful.

The man will return to Darwin tomorrow to face charges relating to the Ludmilla armed robbery.
