Oenpelli Police arrested a 37-old-man in relation to numerous alcohol and traffic offences yesterday.
Police apprehended a group of men at Cahill's Crossing and conducted a search of their vehicle and surrounding area. The following items were located and seized:
3 x 1125ml bottles Bundaberg Rum
1 x 700ml Wild Turkey whiskey
1 x 700ml vodka
1 x 700ml Jonny Walker scotch
1 x 350ml Bundaberg Rum
150 x 375ml cans VB (5 x 30pack cartons)
2 x 20 Litre jerry cans unleaded petrol
A Jeep Cherokee was also seized under the Liquor Act and conveyed to Oenpelli Police Station.
The man was charged in relation to the following offences and has been bailed to appear in Oenpelli Court on 26 August.
Bring liquor into a restricted area
Possess liquor in a restricted area
Drive with a high range blood alcohol content
Drive a motor vehicle with disqualified
Brevet sergeant Ben Higgins says "It is excellent that members of the community are prepared to provide police information about grog runners".
"It shows how aware community members are of the impact of alcohol and ensures police put offenders before the courts".
