Katherine Flood Watch Continues – Broadcast 2

The following message is issued by the Katherine Regional Counter Disaster Controller.


Issued at 12 noon Saturday 28 February 2009.


A Flood watch continues for the Katherine River.

The height of the river at Nitmiluk Centre at 12 noon today is 4.26 metres and steady.

The Katherine Regional Controller advises that flooding has occurred on the Gorge Road at the Maud Creek Crossing. The river height at the Nitmiluk Centre has been steady for several hours.

At the Katherine Bridge, the height at midday is 12.39 metres and slowly rising.

Unless further rain falls in the river catchment area, further flooding is not expected in the next 12 hours.

There are no public shelters open at this time.

The next advice will be issued at 7 pm.
