Juveniles apprehended for school break-in –Alice Springs

Five juveniles - one as young as four - were apprehended following an unlawful entry at a school in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Police received a report from a teacher at Living Waters School who said he had gone to the school at around 6pm on Sunday and found five juveniles on the premises. The offenders fled when they saw the teacher however police apprehended the group a short time later .

The offenders allegedly broke into the school by smashing a window and then stole a number of items including paint and pens. Two of the alleged offenders are aged eight, one is six and another is four. The age of the oldest of the group is yet to be determined.

The children were taken home by police and reports have been made to the office of NT Families and Children. Police said no further action was possible due to the offenders being under the age of criminal responsibility.
