An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to an incident that occurred early on Saturday morning.

It is alleged the man unlawfully entered a residence in Colster Crescent, Wagaman about 6.30 and was found standing over a four-year-old girl in a bedroom of the house by a male occupant.

An altercation then occurred between the occupant and the offender before he fled the house.

The man was later arrested at his residence and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House and later charged with:

Aggravated unlawful entry
Aggravated assault
Deprivation of liberty
Indecent dealing with a child under 10 years

He was bailed by a Darwin Magistrate to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court later this month.
