Intruder on premises – arrest

Police

A 26-year-old man was arrested yesterday after police received a report of an intruder on premises at a residence in The Narrows.

At about 11.40 am the man was seen jumping from one yard to another in Wilmot Street and his suspicious behaviour was reported to police who promptly attended and the 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

The man was allegedly in possession of jewellery stolen from a house that was unlawfully entered. He was conveyed to the Darwin Watch House and later charged with unlawful entry and stealing and remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.

"This is a good example of what results can be achieved when suspicious activity is reported to police and we encourage the public to continue reporting any suspicious behaviour, "said Darwin Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Chris Lyndon.
