Interfered with motor vehicles – Alice Springs

Police

Police are investigating a series of offences in which vehicles were interfered with in Alice Springs earlier this week.

Police received reports of nine vehicles being interfered with in Hillside Gardens, Stephens Road, Gap Road and Tilmouth Court overnight on Monday and in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police believe the same offenders were involved in a series of offences which included:

Smashing a rear window and jamming the ignition lock of a Toyota Hilux Utility in Hillside Gardens.
Interfering with five vehicles and stealing a grey Hyundai Coupe from a residential complex on Stephens Road
Smashing a vehicle's rear window on Gap Road
Throwing rocks at and smashing a bus window at the Gap Road Youth Centre and stealing two hammers from the bus.
Smashing the rear driver's side window and bending the number plate on a vehicle in Tilmouth Court.

Police also received reports of an unlawful entry at Toddy's Backpackers on Monday night where three backpacks containing personal items and some cash were stolen. Police believe the same offenders who interfered with the motor vehicles and stole the Hyundai were responsible for the unlawful entry and stealing at Toddy's Backpackers.

The Hyundai Coupe was subsequently found abandoned in Tilmouth Court and the backpacks and some of the belongings were found in the Bloomfield Street drain.

Police are appealing to anyone with information about these incidents to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
