Hit and run crash - Fannie Bay - 4414166

Police

A 31-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Royal Darwin Hospital following an alleged hit and run crash that occurred last night.

At about 7.40 pm police responded to a report of a hit and run crash on Waratah Crescent, Fannie Bay. It is alleged that the 31-year-old male victim was part of a group at that location when he was struck by a white Toyota Hilux utility which had mounted the kerb and allegedly driven at the group.

The 59-year-old male driver of the utility then allegedly left the scene and was later arrested by members on Progress Drive, Nightcliff. He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with a suspected broken jaw and is in a stable condition. Further enquiries revealed that he was earlier involved in an altercation with a group of persons and may have had an unopened beer can thrown at him striking his jaw.

St John Ambulance officers treated the 31-year-old man at the scene before conveying him to Royal Darwin Hospital with suspected head injuries and a broken leg.

Anyone who witnessed this incident, or has information that could assist police with their investigation, is urged to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or http://www.nt.crimestoppers.com.au/.
