Kalkaringi police were called to a helicopter crash at Wave Hill Cattle Station airstrip at about 6:30 pm yesterday.
It appears the pilot was attempting to land on the airstrip to refuel before retreating due to insufficient room at the bowsers. While turning back he lost control of the aircraft causing it to spin and slam into the ground.
The helicopter travelling from Broome was part of a helicopter safari tour with 23 other aircraft.
Police and Kalkaringi Health Clinic staff attended the scene. The two male occupants aged 55 & 59 years-old were conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital via the Kalkaringi Health Clinic and have since been discharged.
