HAZMAT Incident – Arnhem Highway

Police and Fire and Rescue members were alerted to a Hazardous Material incident that occurred at approximately 8:15 pm this evening on the Arnhem Highway.

It is believed that a Road Train was carrying Sulphuric Acid near Middle Point when the rear trailer rolled on its side, spilling some of its contents.

Police have closed the highway and it is expected to remain closed for approximately five more hours as the scene is cleared and the road train removed.

An investigation into the cause of the accident will be undertaken.

No one was injured in the incident.
