Members from the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service are forewarning residents that hazard reduction burns will be conducted in the Leanyer area next week.

The NT Bushfire Season was launched on Wednesday and members are eager to get started in a bid to keep homes, property and lives safe throughout the season.

Fire and Rescue members will be burning off on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 May behind residential areas between Fitzmaurice and Vanderlin Drive and down to the Shoal Bay Recycling Centre Road.

Members of the public are urged not to contact triple zero in relation to these events unless it is an emergency and to drive with caution around these areas as visibility on roads may be hampered.
