Just before 6:00pm on Saturday police received a report of shots being fired in Howard Springs.
On arrival police observed two vehicles parked on crown land opposite Stow Road. Two men aged 33 and 39-years-old appeared to be firing at clay targets towards defence land. Alcohol was present and both men admitted to consuming alcohol prior to shooting their firearms.
The men had their firearms seized and will be summonsed to firearm offences.
At about 6:30pm yesterday Humpty Doo police apprehended a 20-year-old man while conducting patrols at Harrison Dam.
The offender was in possession of an unregistered firearm and checks revealed the offender did not have a current firearms license. The firearm was seized and the man will be summonsed for firearm offences.
"This is a timely reminder with the Water Fowl Hunting season starting on Tuesday the 1st September that Police will be conducting joint agency patrols with Parks and Wildlife Rangers in and around the designated Hunting reserves" said Sergeant Derek Maurice.
"Any persons caught breaching the Firearms Act or the conditions of their hunting permit will be prosecuted".
