Fire at petrol station - Coolalinga

Police

Police received a report just before 1.30pm from witnesses who said a man had been standing in his boat filling up the jerry can when it suddenly ignited. The man fell from the boat after throwing the can onto the ground. He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with minor injuries.
By-standers extinguished the flames and no-one else was injured.
Duty Superintendent Bruce Porter said the incident was a timely reminder to motorists to be cautious when filling up with fuel, and ensure they have a fire extinguisher in their car.
