The Territory road toll has risen to 23 following a crash that occurred early this morning at the community of Ramingining, 560 kilometres east of Darwin.

Police received a report about 3.00 am that a vehicle had crashed on the barge landing road and a male passenger aged in his 20's has died.

Ramingining Police are currently at the scene and crash investigators from Darwin will fly to the community today to assist local police with their investigation into the cause of the crash.

No further details are available at this time but updates will be provided once information comes to hand.

The road roll for the same period last year was 59.
