A 21 year old man has died in a single vehicle accident that occurred just after 4.30 am this morning in Palmerston.

It is alleged that the ford falcon has left the road and hit a wooden barrier. On arrival members found a pine log had entered the vehicle, striking the driver and causing fatal injuries.

Major Crash investigators are assisting police with the investigation to determine whether speed or alcohol were a contributing factor.

The Territory road toll now stands at 28 compared to 65 for the same period last year.
