Ngukurr Police are currently at the scene of a single vehicle crash that occurred late this afternoon on the Urapunga Connection Road approximately 15 kilometres west of the Ngukurr Community, which is about 330 kilometres south-east of Katherine on the Roper Highway.

Police were notified of the crash about 5.00 pm and at this early stage it's believed the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Three people may have been in the vehicle at the time of the crash and a male passenger has been confirmed dead.

The crash scene has been secured by Ngukurr Police and a detective from Major Crime and two crash investigators will travel from Darwin tonight to the community to assist local police with the investigation.

No further information is available at this time but further details are expected in relation to the crash tomorrow (Sunday 04 October).

This latest death brings the Territory road toll to 25 compared to 59 for the same period last year.
