A 40-year-old male has died after the vehicle he was driving rolled this morning.

It is alleged that the male was travelling along the Kakadu Highway in Pine Creek at approximately 5:50 am when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll.

Police and members from the local health clinic attended however he later died.

The 48-year-old female passenger of the vehicle received minor injuries.

Members from the Accident Investigation Unit are attending to establish the exact cause of the crash and the surrounding circumstances.

Police are investigating whether alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

This now takes the Northern Territory road toll to 10, compared to 25 for the same period last year.
