Police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred near Florina Road in Katherine this afternoon.

It is alleged that the 13-year-old male was riding a quad bike on a private access road at approximately 5:15 pm when he lost control of the vehicle.

It appears at this stage that the vehicle rolled.

Police, Fire and Rescue and St John members attended however the 13-year-old male was declared deceased at the scene.

Police have established a crash scene and will return at first light tomorrow.

The fatal will not be included as part of the Northern Territory road toll due to the incident occurring on private property.
