Fatal hit and run – Update 3 – Alice Springs - 4373108

Police

Alice Springs Police are appealing to witnesses in relation to the death of a woman earlier this month in Alice Springs.

The body of a 63-year-old woman was found lying on the south bound lane of the Stuart Highway at 9.55pm on Thursday September 17 by motorists.

It appears the woman had been struck by a vehicle, which has then left the scene.

Police investigations into the exact circumstances are on-going, with police questioning motorists at the location of the hit and run during a traffic check-point conducted last Thursday night.

Acting Superintendent David Chalker said anyone who has any information about the incident is urged to contact police.

"It's been almost two weeks since the fatal hit and run and police are still seeking further information from witnesses or anyone who has information about the accident," said A/Spt Chalker.

"We urge anyone who was in the car to contact police to assist with investigations."
