Police are investigating an incident that occurred yesterday regarding explosions in Darwin City. Is appears that the devices were home made, by mixing a variety of substances into plastic bottles.
At approximately 10.45 am yesterday, reports were received that an explosive device had been thrown into the vicinity of LaGrande apartments on Knuckey Street, another incident occurred around 1.30 pm on Mitchell Street. The Fire Service was needed to render the area safe and clean up remnants of the device.
NT Police and the Fire Service cannot stress enough the stupidity and potential danger caused by doing these acts. The potential loss of life, injury and property destruction far out weighs any perceived fun the offenders may find in their actions.
Four males were seen in the vicinity of these incidents. Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or has information that could assist police, to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
