Police received a report from AUSAR of an Emergency Positioning Indicating Radio Beacon activation this morning.
The beacon was activated at 7:45 am this morning after four men aged 33, 35 and two 38-year-olds camped on a remote beach over night.
Their vessel appears to have encountered engine trouble causing it to stop about 2.5 nautical miles South West of Nguiu.
Nguiu police located the men safe and well at about 11:00 am today and the vessel is expected to be towed back to Nguiu this afternoon.
Police urge the public to register their emergency beacons through Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) online.
"A registered beacon will provide authorities with the boat owner's details and information as to what type of vessel the beacon is attached to".
"It is important to register with AMSA as this can reduce any delays and assist in the rescuing effort" says Acting Superintendent Rob Jordan.
