Drugs seized –Darwin – update

Police have charged three men in relation to drugs seized yesterday.

At 10am yesterday morning, Detectives from the Drug Enforcement Section apprehended a Toyota land cruiser utility in Lindsay Street where a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 1000 ecstasy tablets, a small quantity of cannabis and more than $16,000 in cash.

The two male occupants of the car aged 24 and 21 were arrested and charged with the following:

The 24 year old was charged with:
2 x Supply commercial quantity of a schedule 2 substance (MDMA)
Possess a commercial quantity of a schedule 2 substance
2 x posses tainted property

The 21 year old was charged with:
Supply a commercial quantity of a schedule 2 substance
Possess a commercial quantity of a schedule 2 substance
Possess a schedule 2 dangerous drug
Posses cannabis
Fail to secure ammunition

Later that day, a third man also aged 21, was pulled over in Darwin city where a search of his vehicle located 1000 ecstasy tablets. A subsequent search of his house found another 63 ecstasy tablets, a trafficable quantity of amphetamine and a small amount of alcohol.

He was charged with the following offences:
Possess a commercial quantity of a schedule 2 substance (MDMA)
Posses a trafficable quantity of a schedule 2 substance
Possess a trafficable quantity of amphetamine
Possess cannabis.

All three men have been remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.
