On Friday, members from the Katherine Dog Operations Unit (DOU) and the Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk (SAID) apprehended two males in two separate incidents.

Members from Pine Creek, the DOU and Transport Inspectors were conducting a random breath test on the Stuart Highway in Pine Creek and after stopping a vehicle, the attending drug detector dog reacted positively to a bag in the back seat of the car.

Members conducted a search and located 28 grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

Approximately $800 worth of cash was also located in the search.

A 54-year-old male was subsequently charged with possession of a dangerous drug in a public place and possess thing to administer a dangerous drug and bailed to appear in the Katherine Court 11 May.

At around 5:30 pm SAID and DOU members stopped and searched a vehicle on the Stuart Highway near the Katherine Police Station.

A person search was conducted on the 29-year-old driver, subsequently locating 36 tabs of LSD.

He was charged with possess lysergic acid commercial quantity and bailed to appear in the Katherine Court today.
