Drugs - Jabiru

Police

Members of the Katherine Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk, Drug Dog Operations Unit, Katherine Investigation Unit and Field Intelligence Officers yesterday executed a search warrant at a residence in Jabiru.

A search of the premises located one large clipseal bag of cannabis, 322 small clipseal bags of cannabis totalling 304 grams. Ten capsules (6.9 grams) of MDMA (Ecstasy), 14 cannabis seeds and approximately $3 000 in cash was also seized along with ammunition, a butterfly knife and a knuckleduster.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with:

Possess/supply trafficable quantity of cannabis
Fail storage requirements (ammunition)
Possess dangerous drug Schedule 2 (trafficable)
Possess prohibited weapon (x2)

He was bailed to appear in the Jabiru Court on 27 October.

"This is another great result from the on-going partnership between the federal government, FAHCSIA and the Northern Territory Police to fight the supply of illicit drugs in remote areas the NT, "said Superintendent Travis Wurst.
