Members from the Drug Enforcement Section arrested a 42-year-old man yesterday in relation to drug offences.
At about 8:00 pm last night police apprehended the man leaving his Winnellie premises. A search was conducted of his vehicle and a set of nun-chukkas were located and seized.
A subsequent search of the offender's residence was conducted. Police located and seized a loaded 12 gauge shot gun, approximately 60grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of cannabis.
The offender was arrested and conveyed to Darwin Watch House.
He is due to appear in Darwin Magistrate's Court today in relation to the following offences:
possess a trafficable amount of schedule 2 dangerous drug
possess of cannabis;
possess a prohibited weapon and other firearms offences; and
possess a controlled weapon
Acting Superintendent Clint Sims said "We will always act when we receive information about people unlawfully possessing firearms and it continues to be our priority to target recidivist drug offenders that profit from the harm that drugs do to our community."
