Drug bust – Alice Springs

Police

Two men will face court after more than $317,000 worth of drugs were seized from a car near Alice Springs on Friday night.

Police said a Toyota Landcruiser was pulled over for a routine traffic apprehension on the Stuart Highway approximately 20 kilometres south of Alice Springs.

Police allegedly found 281 grams of cannabis, 600 grams of methamphetamine and 77 Lysergic Acid (LSD) tablets, with an estimated street value of $317,890, Police also found a Taser in one of the two occupant's luggage.

Two males aged 35 and 36 were arrested and charged with possession of a commercial quantity of a Schedule 2 substance (methamphetamine), possession of a trafficable quantity of a Schedule 2 substance (Cannabis), possession of a commercial quantity of a Schedule 1 substance (LSD), supplying a dangerous drug and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Both men have been remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
