A 42-year-old man has been charged with possession of a trafficable quantity of cannabis resin after a search warrant was executed on Wednesday at a property in Parap.

Detectives searched the location at Somerville Gardens, subsequently seizing 76 morphine tablets and over 30 grams of cannabis.

It is alleged that when police arrived at the home, the man attempted to escape apprehension by refusing police entry and exiting out the backdoor. Police were able to apprehend the man and then continue to search the property.

The man was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on December 16.
