Drug and alcohol seizure - Oenpelli

Police

Between the hours of 2:00 am and 4:00 am this morning police made a number of arrests in relation to drugs and alcohol located in vehicles in and around the Oenpelli and Jabiru area.

Oenpelli members conducted breath tests and vehicle searches on a number of cars travelling along Oenpelli Road at Cahills Crossing and in total, located:

23 bottles of spirits
46 cans of beer
10 litres of cask wine
10 bags of cannabis (14 grams)

As a result three males aged 30, 36 and 44 were arrested for offences including drive under the influence of intoxicating liquor and bring liquor into a prescribed area.

Four people also received Summary Infringement Notices and three vehicles were seized.

Territory Duty Superintendent John Emeny said that these offenders will think twice before attempting this sort of behaviour again.

"Oenpelli members worked very hard to put these offenders behind bars and to get this alcohol off the streets.

"Transporting liquor into a prescribed area is something that we will not tolerate and we will continue to target these offenders" he said.
