Police are investigating a drowning incident that occurred at Berry Springs Nature Park yesterday.
A 28-year-old male has died as a result of the incident after being pulled from the waterfall area at Berry Springs Nature Park at about 2:15 pm yesterday.
It is believed the man was visiting the park with friends when he disappeared under the water near the falls. He resurfaced some minutes later, Off duty medical staff and Park Rangers performed CPR on the man before St John Ambulance attended and conveyed the man to RDH.
Parks and Wildlife personnel cordoned off the waterfall area of the springs while police examined the scene.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the mans death and believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the incident.
Duty Superintendent Rob Farmer says " this is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family. It is a timely reminder to the public to stay safe when swimming in our waterways and to reinforce that alcohol consumption and swimming can be a very dangerous combination."
