Drivers apprehended – Rural area

Police have apprehended two people in relation to two separate incidents that occurred yesterday.

Members were patrolling Hopewell Road in Berry Springs late yesterday morning when they witnessed a 37-year-old female travelling at 145 km per hour in an 80 km zone.

She was subsequently pulled over and is to be summonsed to appear in court to face charges of driving whilst unlicensed and driving at a dangerous speed.

At approximately 9:45 pm last night it was reported that a vehicle had crashed into a power pole on Goode Road in Humpty Doo.

Police, Fire and Rescue and Ambulance personnel attended the scene, locating a 52-year-old male trapped in a Toyota Landcruiser.

He was removed from the vehicle within a short time and conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital however he has since been released.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing; however at this stage it appears that speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors.
