Driver arrested – Rapid Creek

Police

A 32-year-old man will face court after he crashed his car through pine bollards at Rapid Creek this morning.

Police on patrol attempted to apprehend the driver of a Holden Commodore sedan near the Rapid Creek Bridge just after 4am today. The driver accelerated away from police and drove his vehicle through pine bollards. He attempted to accelerate away but lost control of the vehicle causing it to spin before stopping. He then ran from the vehicle towards the river and fell down an embankment onto rocks before swimming across the river.

The man was arrested by police a short time later and taken to Royal Darwin Hospital where he was treated for lacerations he received in the fall.

The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
