Drink Driving–Alice Springs

Eleven people were arrested for drink driving in Alice Springs over the weekend.

A 42-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly seen weaving over the road in his car. Police followed the man's Ford Falcon sedan as he turned from Telegraph Terrace into Larapinta Drive about 12.30am on Saturday. He was pulled over and found to be driving with a blood alcohol level of .248 per cent.

He was charged with driving with a high range blood alcohol content, driving disqualified and driving an unsafe vehicle.

He will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

A 36 year old man was arrested last night after he allegedly failed to stop when requested by police. The man drove his car to Hidden Valley town camp where he was apprehended by police officers after a short foot chase.

He was found to have been driving with a blood alcohol level of .175 per cent. He has been charged with high-range drink driving, unlicensed driving and failing to stop.

He will also appear in the Alice Springs Magistrate's Court today.
