Police were called to a residence in Jubilee Street in Tennant Creek following a domestic disturbance last night.

Police received reports around 7.30 that a 31-year-old woman had been assaulted by her 36-year-old male partner.

The woman was taken to the Tennant Creek Hospital and later medivac to the Alice Springs Hospital with serious injuries to her head and face and further injuries to her body.

The woman remains in a stable condition at the Alice Springs Hospital. Superintendent Bruce Porter of Tennant Creek Police said a 36-year-old man has been arrested and will be interviewed later today.
