Domestic Disturbance – Alice Springs

A 36-year-old man has appeared in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on charges of assaulting police and going armed in public after a disturbance at the weekend.

Police received a report on Friday night just after 10 o'clock of a domestic disturbance on Lovegrove Drive.

Police arrived at the scene to find the man outside the house holding a knife.

Police alleged they attempted to calm the man in which time two police vehicles were extensively damaged by the man after he threw a plastic table, a wheelie bin and numerous other items including pot plants at the vehicles.

Police applied a taser on the man when he walked towards an officer with the knife raised.

The man was handcuffed and taken to the Alice Springs Watch house and appeared in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today where he was charged with:
Four counts of unlawful damage to property
Four counts of assaulting police
Going armed in public
