Police have arrested a 20-year-old male in relation to a disturbance that occurred in Katherine early this morning.

Katherine members received reports of a disturbance on Callistemon Drive at approximately 1:00 am and upon arrival witnessed numerous people involved in an altercation.

Several people were taken into police custody as members quelled the disturbance.

Members later located a 20-year-old male and an 18-year-old female offender and charged both with disorderly behaviour, assault police and aggravated assault.

Numerous others were issued with infringements notices in regard to their conduct.

Both people were bailed to appear in the Katherine Court 29 April.
