Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to an incident that occurred early yesterday morning in Malak.

At about midnight the Casuarina Supervisor responded to a report that a group of youths were creating a disturbance in the vicinity of Patterson Street and Malak Crescent. The police unit patrolled the area and observed approximately 30 youths waiting for lifts home after a party at a nearby community hall.

The member patrolled the area to ensure all remained quiet and at approximately 12.15 am he observed a number of youths in the bush near Sanderson High School and stopped his vehicle.

One of the youths then allegedly threw a bottle at the police vehicle which struck the driver's side front panel. Police then saturated the area but could not locate the alleged offender who was wearing a white t-shirt and dark shorts.

The police vehicle received minor damage.
